The College GameDay crew picked their week one predictions on Saturday morning, including the West Virginia-Penn State game. Out of the five at the table, four took Penn State to roll past WVU in Happy Valley.

Desmond Howard, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and guest picker Darius Rucker all took the Nittany Lions. Former WVU kicker Pat McAfee was the only College GameDay member to take the Mountaineers.

WVU and Penn State will face each other for the first time since 1992. The Nittany Lions hold an all-time record of 48-9-2 against the Mountaineers.

PSU HC James Franklin, after months of telling reporters that the position was up for grabs, still hasn’t publicly announced it, and it’s not looking like that will happen before Saturday’s season opener against West Virginia under the Beaver Stadium lights.

Ironically, Franklin did voice that he is operating under the assumption that WVU will be starting Garrett Greene under center. This is a day after Neal Brown also refused to publicly name his starting quarterback, even going as far as to say he will only start releasing depth charts during game weeks if other coaches agree to do it too.

Greene is expected to start for West Virginia, while Drew Allar is expected for Penn State.

The Mountaineers and Nittany Lions will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in State College, Pa. NBC will televise the primetime game.

I think its time to drop the “trust the climb and change it to “show me the top” all his guys, seniors been in program 5/6 yrs, juniors 3/4,etc and have excellent o-line mostly seniors who I believe have been under coached, great rb room, decent qbs and recievers. The defence seems to regress every year but hope for more this year but its time for the coaching staff to show they can do more than recruit.Show you can win, thats what will save your job and win back fans, donors and students.
