Consensus 4-Star CB Hints at WVU Among Favorites

WVU Football CB recruit Dawayne Galloway

As Dawayne Galloway nears his commitment decision, it’s clear WVU is very much in the mix. On Thursday, the consensus four-star Ohio cornerback posted four different images, hinting West Virginia as one of his top schools.

Galloway posted images decked out in full uniform of Kentucky, Purdue, Syracuse and WVU. This comes after he previously declared a top 12, placing the Mountaineers along with Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF and WVU.

To this point, WVU has already beat out the likes of Auburn, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri and Backyard Brawl rival Pitt.

And while there are many reasons why a recruit may pick one school over another, Galloway says it’s mostly about his love of WVU head coach Neal Brown and his staff that’s keeping the Mountaineers in the mix.

“Really like what coach Brown and what he’s all about,” said Galloway when asked what he loves most about the West Virginia program.

Galloway, viewed as both a cornerback and an athlete, attends Marion Franklin High School in Columbus, Ohio. Galloway scored three touchdowns and made five interceptions during his 2023 high school season. WVU sent Galloway an official offer back in September.

Regarded as a consensus four-star player, Galloway is ranked as one of the top 10 best in his class by every major recruiting outlet.
