Deion Sanders Emotional About Cancer Battle: ‘God Has Been Good to Me’

In the midst of speculation he was going to step down, Deion Sanders instead announced he’s been battling bladder cancer. Staying the Colorado head coach, Sanders got emotional during a Monday press conference along side his medical team.

“You have no idea how good God has been to me,” said Sanders after revealing he was diagnosed with bladder cancer.

For the positive end of his news, the timor has since been removed and he’s now classified as cancer free.

Sanders shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the press conference.

After a disappointing 4-8 season in his first year in Colorado, granted still a jump from the school’s 1-11 record in the prior season, Sanders led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 year and an appearance in the Alamo Bowl in 2024.

The 2025 season will mark Sanders’ first with the Buffaloes without his son, Shedeur, at quarterback and Heisman winner Travis Hunter, as both are now in the NFL.

West Virginia will host Colorado on Nov. 8 in the two historic program’s first meeting since 2009 and first while in the same conference.
