All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Elijah Simmons transferred to WVU Football after spending the first three years of his college career between Kent State and Garden City Community College.

The Mountaineers lost the majority of their defensive linemen to graduation or the transfer portal last season, forcing them to bring in ten new faces: most of them either incoming freshmen or transfers from the lower levels of the sport like Simmons.

The six-foot tall, 288 pound lineman recorded just 21 tackles against junior college competition last season, which doesnโ€™t bode well for his ability to adjust to Division I, but numbers arenโ€™t everything on the defensive line. Eating up blockers and shutting down rushing or passing lanes can help the team as much as the player who ends up making the stop does.

Stats: 21 tackles, one sack, 5.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble during his JUCO career.

Camp outlook: With sparse playing time at the junior college level, Simmons might need to battle to make the Mountaineersโ€™ final roster.ย

Projected role: If Simmons makes it on the field, expect special teams snaps or limited defensive opportunities.
