Just when you think the WVU football coaches are done for a day, they bring in one more transfer commitment.

Gardner-Webb pass rusher Ty French revealed his commitment late Monday night. While he may not carry the name recognition as some other players, French appears ready to advance his game FCS to the FBS level.

French, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, took an official visit to West Virginia during the weekend of Dec. 15, which was about a week after receiving an offer.

He recorded 239 tackles, 61 tackles for loss, 34.5 sacks and an interception during his career at Gardner-Webb. French posted 68 total tackles in 2023 and 75 in 2022.

French also earned offers from Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Western Kentucky.

Even though he only has one year of eligibility remaining, WVU is still happy to add more depth to their defense and bring in another player to help the pass rush after losing James Heard Jr. to the portal.
