WVU Football OL recruit Ben Mubenga

After already benefitting from one coaching change, there’s now a possibility the WVU football program could look at players headed to another school who just fired its head coach as well.

Arkansas firing Sam Pittman led to a highly coveted offensive lineman Ben Mubenga deciding to withdraw his commitment. And in the process of announcing his intentions to re-open his recruitment, the 2026 prospect out of Georgia made it clear he’s considering West Virginia.

Mubenga, listed at 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, included WVU on a graphic with several other Power Four programs on his new list. Also on his list are Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami (FL), Missouri, North Carolina State and Oregon. It should be noted Mubenga does not seem to discounting still eventually signing with Arkansas.

He also has offers from LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Pitt, Purdue, Texas A&M and UCF as far as other Power Four schools.

Rich Rodriguez’s staff sent Mubenga an official offer on in May. He then committed to Arkansas in late June.

Mubenga attends Buford High School in Buford, Ga. and is ranked within the top 120 recruits in a state heavily populated with talent.
