Former Mountaineer Quincy Wilson Running for Office in West Virginia
Often referred to as West Virginia legend within the state, Quincy Wilson is taking on a new challenge in an effort to better his community.
On Friday, Wilson announced he’s running to lead the House of Delegates in District 1, Hancock County.
“Today, alongside my family, I am officially filing to run for the House of Delegates in District 1, Hancock County. I am eager to hear your concerns and understand the needs of our communities from Weirton to Chester. This initiative is centered on listening, and I am prepared to engage in a constructive conversation. If you wish to discuss your thoughts, I am ready to listen!!!,” said Wilson in his post on Facebook.
As far as what Wilson has been up to recently besides this new political venture, he was named the head coach of his alma mater Weir High School a year ago. This came months after he was set to become the head coach at the University of Rio Grande before the school decided to not move forward with him.
Prior to his brief stint with Rio Grande, Wilson was the running backs coach at Fairmont State in 2023.
Wilson won the Kennedy Award winner as the stateโs best high school player during his time at Weir High. He then stayed in the state and became a star as a Mountaineer from 1999 to 2003.

After his college career, Wilson was drafted in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He spent time as a member of the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL.
Wilson was inducted into the West Virginia Hall of Fame in 2018.
Quincy Wilson appeared on a past episode of WVSNโs fan podcast Country Roads Webcast.

So happy there was a new face with no political agenda entering the race!! Politics to day are all about enriching themselves and forget they are in their position to serve!!! Iโm glad they left the party affiliation off because it divides people!! He is for everyone in District one!

What party? I hope and PRAY he’s smart enough to be a Republican. Republicans freed blacks; 100% of democrats fought against emancipation. Dems enforced Jim Crow laws, Republicans stopped them. Dems fought for segregation; GOP stopped it. GOP fought for over a century to pass civil rights; Dems fought it. GOP gave blacks the vote; 100% dems fought against it. Everything good that happened in this country, the GOP delivered. Meanwhile, democrats empower criminals, vilify law enforcement, encourage open borders, give free benefits to illegals costing U.S. taxpayers $billions, cannonize domestic terrorists such as Renee Good, participate in domestic terrorism, and have even attacked churchgoers in various states, most recently including Minnesota. Only those who hate America are democrats.

Thank you RexCraigo … for reminding us all that the democrats are the party of death.
You folks are always wishing death on anyone who disagrees with you.
It’s no wonder that you folks insist on us black folks to murder our babies through abortion.
Truly sick.
