Mountaineers in the Pros
Former WVU Basketball G Miles McBride Wins NBA Championship
A former WVU basketball guard etched his name into NBA history Saturday, as Miles “Deuce” McBride won a championship with the New York Knicks.
While McBride didn’t score in the clinching game, he scored six points in the Knicks’ first win and five in the second.
Earlier in the playoffs, McBride helped clinch New York’s second round series with an historic performance. He scored 25 points off seven threes as the Knicks tied a postseason record for team threes with 25.
The last Mountaineer to play in the NBA Finals was Jevon Carter in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. Prior to him, Jerome Anderson played and won in the Finals with the Boston Celtics in 1976.
In 2024, former WVU guard Joe Mazzulla led the Celtics to an NBA title as their head coach.
McBride averaged 12.0 points per game in 41 regular season games, enduring an injury plagued season.

Current NBA player with the New York Nicks, Miles “Deuce” McBride, joined some fellow Mountaineers who participated in prior NBA championship series. Quite a fete for our school.
