Former WVU basketball signee Kelvin Odih has flipped to St. Johns, he announced on social media Wednesday.

Odih, a four-star prospect, signed a grant-in-aid with WVU basketball in November but was released from his commitment following the departure of head coach Darian DeVries. West Virginia initially won a hotly-contested recruiting battle for Odih, beating out Rutgers and Louisville at the very end.

Odih verbally committed to WVU on Oct. 9, becoming the Mountaineers’ first four-star recruit since 2020. He signed with the school on Nov. 14 and recommitted following DeVries’s departure on March 18.

Odih was one member of a very strong three-man recruiting class WVU had put together for 2025. High school teammate Trent MacLean also signed with WVU but recommitted and has since joined Saint Mary’s. In-state prospect and former signee Braydon Hawthrone is also looking for a new home as he recently visited Pitt this month.

New WVU coach Ross Hodge has put together a solid seven-man transfer class but has only signed one high school recruit up to this point, forward DJ Thomas. Thomas, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward from Allen, Tx., had signed with Hodge at North Texas, but will now follow the former UNT coach to West Virginia instead.
