Fox Broadcaster Describes Encounter with Bob Huggins at WVU Football Game
While at WVU on Saturday to call West Virginia’s loss to Iowa State, Fox broadcaster Tim Brando ran into a Mountaineer legend. Brando then posted about his encounter with Bob Huggins at Milan Puskar Stadium on social media.
“Always a few perks to my craft. Last night after coming down the press box elevator look who I ran into? The one and only “Huggy Bear”Bob Huggins. He’s got a little Ben Hur thing going on with his look now, doesn’t he? “HUGS” had a difficult end, but what a terrific guy to cover,” said Brando about running into the Basketball Hall of Fame coach on X (formerly Twitter).

Huggins was dressed in all black in honor of the Coal Rush theme of the night. The former WVU basketball head coach’s white beard was in full force as well.
Huggins has mostly stayed out of the spotlight in recent months aside from a summer reunion with former WVU players in Akron, Ohio.
Huggins is now 71 years old and has 935 career wins, which is third on the all-time wins list amongst coaches. He led both Cincinnati (1992) and WVU (2010) to an appearance in the Final Four. Huggins was named Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2015 and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.
For a related story, Andy Katz, the former lawyer and agent for Bob Huggins, died recently.
