Former WVU HC Bob Huggins attended Akron basketball’s reunion over the weekend. Huggins ran into former Mountaineers and current Akron players Josiah Harris, Seth Wilson and James Okonkwo.

Wilson and Okonkwo played under Huggins at West Virginia for two seasons while Harris played for one under the Hall of Fame coach.

Harris posted the picture of the group together on his Instagram story.

Harris and Wilson remained at WVU after Huggins resigned in June 2023. Okonkwo transferred to North Carolina for this past season. All three players entered the transfer portal this spring and transferred to Akron. With that, Morgantown High School guard Sharron Young committed to John Groce’s staff at Akron as well.

Harris, a 6-foot-7 forward from Canton, Ohio, joined West Virginiaโ€™s program out of high school in 2022. Harris saw limited time his freshman year but saw an increased role his second year under Josh Eilert. Harris averaged 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in 32 games this past season. Harris shot 51% from the field and 41% from three during Big 12 play.

Wilson, guard, averaged 3.5 points and 1.7 rebounds on 38% three-point shooting during his junior year. Wilson, a Lorain, Ohio native, played in 82 games for West Virginia over three years.

Okonkwo, 6-foot-8, averaged 2.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 11 minutes per game during his second year with West Virginia. After transferring to UNC, Okonkwo didn’t see the floor as much playing behind Armando Bacot.
