Gabe Osabuohien to Work Out With Charlotte Hornets on Thursday

As first reported by Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, former West Virginia forward Gabe Osabuohien will work out with the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday. Osabuohien tells WV Sports Now that he will workout with several other teams over the next couple of weeks.

Osabuohien declared for the 2022 NBA draft on May 2, signing with an agent.

Osabuohien spent three seasons at West Virginia after transferring from Arkansas in 2019. The fifth-year senior appeared in 87 games from 2019-22, averaging 3.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks. Osabuohien won the 2022 Co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award, sharing the honor with Oklahoma State’s Moussa Cisse and Baylor’s Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua.

Along with Osabuohien, Taz Sherman and Malik Curry have been participating in pre-draft events to get their names out there to the public. Last season, Sherman entered his name into the draft, but opted out to return to West Virginia.

The 2022 NBA Draft will take place in Chicago from May 16-22, with the draft taking place on June 23 in Brooklyn.
