Cheers and laughter were in abundance earlier this week at The Shack Neighborhood House as the non-profit organization GET MOVING! Inc held its annual Mini Day of Play event. More than 40 kids were in attendance and participated in five stations led by members of the West Virginia football team and cheerleading squad.

The stations consisted of football drills and a water station where healthy lifestyle tips were given to the participants.  Each child left the event with a t-shirt, a healthy tip flyer, a bag of healthy snacks and a big smile.

The organization was founded over six years ago by Dr. Elizabeth Oppe, a professor at WVU.  The goal of the organization is to promote physical activity and healthy eating for Mountain State youth.  The annual Day of Play event is currently being planned for the Spring of 2019, further details can be found on their website, or on organization’s social media pages.
