Joe Mazzulla Drops Wisdom After Leading Celtics to Milestone Win
Saturday was a milestone night for Joe Mazzulla and the Boston Celtics. The former WVU player turned NBA head coach beat the man he replaced and the win allowed the Celtics to achieve something no other franchise has in the past.
Mazzulla and the Celtics beat Ime Udoka and his Houston Rockets 145-113. The win marks Boston’s 30 victory of the season and improves their home record to 19-0. But it also accomplished something else from a historical perspective.
Boston’s win was the 3,600th regular season win in franchise history. The Celtics are now the first NBA team to ever reach that number of wins in the regular season.
To no surprise, the Lakers are the next closes with 3,522 as of Jan. 13. Other long tenured franchises in the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks round out the top four.

Mazzulla can now say he was the head coach of an historic win in the history of such a successful franchise and brand in basketball. Boston goes for 3,601 in their next game on Monday night against the Raptors in Toronto.
Below is what Mazzulla said after the game. “The healthiest relationship to have with success is to understand that we can still get better.”
