WVU Women’s Basketball Destroys Lafayette 98-28
WVU Women’s Basketball destroyed the Lafayette Leopards 98-28 on Friday in a full team performance that saw five players hit double digit points.
The No. 13 ranked Mountaineers, now 6-0 on the season, converted 56.9 percent of their shots from the field and 14 of 25 from beyond the arc, forcing 30 turnovers and committing just ten fouls as they dominated in every aspect of the game.
They did all this despite playing without junior guard Sydney Shaw, who received a technical foul and ejection for throwing a punch during the second half of Tuesday’s win against Bowling Green. Shaw sat out of the starting lineoAs of yet, the team has given no reason for Shaw’s absence: West Virginia Sports Now will keep you informed when that changes.
Senior shooting guard JJ Quinerly led both teams with 19 points scored while playing in her milestone 100th game for the Mountaineers.

The Leopards, for their part, didn’t cross the ten-point threshold in any of the four periods of play. West Virginia built a 45-15 lead in the first half: while it was already a blowout by the time the teams headed to the locker room, it turned into a blowout in the third period, when the Mountaineers didn’t allow a field goal for the final 6:48—continuing on for the first 4:27 of the fourth quarter—a combined 29-0 run that blew the game wide open.
WVU Women’s Basketball will next take the court in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida, which they open against High Point at 1:30 pm on Friday, Nov. 29 – their first game outside the Mountain State this season.
