Reid Carrico Earns Big Honor for Being Bright Spot for WVU Defense Against Baylor
Even though the WVU defense had a rough day collectively against Baylor, one player stood out enough to earn national recognition.
On Monday, West Virginia linebacker Reid Carrico was announced as one of the Big 12’s Defensive Players of the Week for his strong individual performance.

Carrico totaled 16 tackles, including 2 registered as solos, marking a career high. It also marked the most in a single game by a Mountaineer since Oct. 28, 2017, when David Long Jr. had 18 tackles against Oklahoma State.
Carrico also led the defense in tackles for the first time in his Mountaineer career.
The Ironton, Ohio native has 39 tackles overall on the season, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
Prior to his season-high 16 tackles against Baylor, Carrico recorded four tackles versus Albany and Arizona.
The redshirt junior transferred to WVU from Ohio State in January and has one more year of eligibility after this season. He was a consensus four-star recruit out of high school, compiling offers from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and many others.
For a related story, a somber mood looms over Neal Brown and his WVU football team.
