Only a few days after entering the transfer portal, former WVU offensive lineman Kyle Altuner has already found his new college home.

In news that shouldn’t be surprising to anyone paying attention, Altuner is committing to Virginia Tech. The young offensive lineman confirmed the news after reports started to circulate on Monday.

Altuner will now follow former WVU offensive line coach Matt Moore, who was instrumental in recruiting him initially to West Virginia, and jump from the Big 12 to the ACC. Moore was hired as Virginia Tech’s offensive line coach on Dec. 23.

Altuner, 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, dealt with an injury throughout most of 2024. He signed with WVU in December of 2023 out of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md.

Altuner was a consensus three-star, having received the rating by all four major outlets โ€“ ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals. He was rated similarly on all four, falling between the No. 15 (ESPN), No. 24 (247 Sports) and No. 26 (Rivals) recruit in Maryland.

He chose West Virginia over offers from 19 other programs that included Boston College, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Florida State, Liberty, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Toledo.

Tomas Rimac has also committed to follow Moore to Blacksburg.

I wish them all the best and hope theyโ€™re getting NIL bank. I donโ€™t think Va Tech qualifies as a rival anymore with no future games on the schedule. It also wouldnโ€™t be surprising Va Tech is looking for a new coach soon, maybe next year if they have another year like the last.
