Tre Mitchell

On Friday morning, Texas transfer Tre Mitchell signed his National Letter of Intent with West Virginia. Mitchell posted pictures from his visit to Morgantown on his Instagram.

Mitchell (6-foot-9, 240 pounds) averaged 8.7 points and 4.0 rebounds during his only season in Austin. In February, Mitchell took a leave of absence from the program for personal reasons, not returning to the team for the remainder of the season. The Pittsburgh native is a two-time All-Atlantic 10 Team recipient. Mitchell averaged 18.0 points and 7.2 rebounds in two seasons at Massachusetts.

Mitchell has two years of eligibility remaining and will need a waiver from the NCAA to become eligible for the 2022-23 season.

With the commitment from Mitchell, West Virginia is over the limit of scholarship players for the 2022-23 season, which means someone will have to give up their spot in order to make room for Mitchell.
