The Marshall Thundering Herd are champions. For the first time since 2014, Marshall is a conference champion. The Herd won the Sun Belt title by dominating Louisiana 31-3 on Saturday night.

Marshall led throughout the game, earning their seventh straight win and 10th of the season in convincing fashion.

Quarterback Braylon Braxton completed 18-of-26 passes for 196 yards. He threw a pair of touchdowns and also ran for 66 yards. Running back Jordan Houston ran for 117 yards on 17 carries, averaging 6.9 yards per touch.

Marshall fans can now celebrate an historic season while waiting for official word about the future of head coach Charles Huff.

Last year, Marshall endured a disappointing 6-7 season that followed winning nine games and a bowl game in 2022. The losing wasn’t even the worst part about the season either. There was constant drama surrounding comments he made and what players said about fans.

But this season has been mostly about winning, with the biggest viral moment being a funny NIL sales pitch to Ohio State players before a game against the Buckeyes.
