Maryland Backer Calls WVU Offer an “Honor”

Early this week, Good Counsel (MD) 2020 linebacker Mitchell Melton received an offer from West Virginia.

“It’s an honor to be offered by such a great school,” Melton said of the Mountaineers.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound also holds offers from the likes of Michigan, Maryland, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and many others, but the idea of playing in the Big 12 has Melton intrigued.

“It would be great,” Melton commented on the idea of playing in the Big 12. “It’s a very good conference with a bunch of great players, including the last two Heisman winners.”

Melton currently doesn’t claim any leaders, but stated that he would like to decide by the beginning of his senior season and that “the support system” a school provides during and after his playing days are important factors.

Melton was offered by safeties coach Jahmil Addea and plans to visit Morgantown in the future.
