Pat McAfee on Rich Rodriguez: ‘Rich Rod is Part of the WVU Conversation’

The latest comment from Pat McAfee about WVU’s coaching search teases fans who are hoping for one particular candidate to claim the job.

“Rich Rod is a part of the WVU conversation,” proclaimed McAfee during as segment of his show on Wednesday.

McAfee then proceeded to detail what life could be like for West Virginia fans with Rodriguez back as their head coach, further exposing his pick among the candidates.

Rodriguez will lead his current Jacksonville State team in the Conference USA Championship Game this coming weekend. With a win, Rodriguez would claim his first conference title at the FBS level since leaving West Virginia in 2007.

Rodriguez, a West Virginia native, currently holds a 189-128-2 overall coaching record. He experienced most of his success while leading the Mountaineers from 2001-2007. At WVU, Rodriguez won four Big East titles and was named conference Coach of the Year twice. He added a third Coach of the Year honor in the Pac-12 in 2014 with Arizona.
