Is Dana Holgorsen returning to the Big 12? 247 Sports is reporting the former Houston and West Virginia could be joining another Big 12 coaching staff.

According to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer’s report, TCU is targeting Holgorsen for a consultant role.

This latest news comes seven months after Zenitz reported Nebraska was interested in hiring Holgorsen. Instead of joining the Cornhuskers, Holgorsen remains available and now it appears could be headed back to a school in Texas and the Big 12.

Despite beating the Mountaineers in his first game against WVU since leaving Morgantown, Holgorsen was fired by Houston on Nov. 26.

The 52-year-old Holgorsen finished his Houston tenure with a 31-28 record in five seasons. Houston went 4-8 in 2023, the program’s first year in the Big 12 Conference. One of those four wins was over WVU.

After eight years at West Virginia, Holgorsen left the Mountaineers following the 2018 season to take over a then budding Group of 5 Houston program with the thought he would help guide the Cougars through an eventual transition into a major conference.
