WVU safety Hershey McLaurin will plan to enter the transfer portal, according to Keenan Cummings of Rivals. McLaurin confirmed the news by posting the report on his Instagram story.

McLaurin said the following:

“First I want to thank God for giving me the ability and skill to play this game that I love. Without him, I know that I would not be in this position that I am in today. I would also like to thank all the coaches for giving me a chance to play the game at the Division-I level and I want to thank the athletic training staff for keeping me as healthy as possible. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.”

McLaurin spent two seasons at West Virginia after coming by way of Jones County JC. McLaurin appeared in 23 games for the Mountaineers. This season, the Friendship, Ms. native recorded 44 tackles with 6.0 tackles for loss.  McLaurin has one more year of eligibility left.

McLaurin joins a group of departing players of Jeremiah Aaron (WR), Cortez Braham (WR), Ja’Shaun Poke (WR), Davis Mallinger (S) and Christion Stokes (S). WV Sports Now will continue to update on WVU football in the transfer portal.
