WVU Football WR Decides to Enter Portal for Final College Season
On the first day players can officially enter the Transfer Portal, the WVU football program loses a player after only one season as a Mountaineer.
Wide receiver Ja’Shaun Poke will transfer and finish his final college year elsewhere. Poke was only able to play in one game for West Virginia in 2023, making just two receptions for 11 yards against FCS opponent Duquesne.

Poke came to West Virginia around this time last year to advance his game at the major conference level. He previously was a star at Kent State, catching 81 passes for 1,033 yards and scoring five touchdowns over four seasons.
Unfortunately, injuries during fall camp forced him to fall on the depth chart and he was never able to earn enough playing time.
You can find Garnes and other transfer players listed on our partner the Portal Report’s database.
