Ross Hodge Gives Encouraging Injury Update on Amir Jenkins
After undergoing surgery on both shoulders this offseason, sophomore guard Amir Jenkins is “ahead of schedule” in his recovery, per head coach Ross Hodge.
“Yeah, he’s ahead of schedule with where they kind of his checkpoints. He’s recovered well. He’s lifting with both shoulders now,” Hodge said in a press conference Monday.
Hodge added the team has rallied around Jenkins and helped keep his spirits high during the long recovery process. Hodge expects him to be on the court soon.
“He loves to play basketball. I think the rest of the group’s done a good job of making sure that he’s in a good space and he’ll be out there soon,” Hodge said.
Jenkins played most of the season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder before tearing his right in a matchup against TCU. The injuries sidelined him for the teamโs College Basketball Crown championship run.
Jenkins averaged 3.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists while averaging 16.0 minutes per game in 32 games as a freshman during the 2025-26 season.
