MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The series opener of the WVU baseball team vs. Texas Tech has been delayed until Saturday. The forecast was clear for most of the day Friday, as rain was not expected to hit until 8:00 p.m.

Both teams had completed their warm-ups, new men’s basketball coach Ross Hodge had thrown out the ceremonial first pitch and the Mountaineers were ready to take the field, but then a lightning strike at 6:30 pm put the game in a delay. The game was called at 7:20 P.M.

The teams will clash in a doubleheader starting at 12:05 P.M. Saturday, as the first place Mountaineers look to keep hold their three-game lead in the Big 12 standings, and get back into winning form after a midweek loss to the Marshall Thundering Herd.
