TBT Announces Return to Charleston for W.Va. Regional
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) announced Wednesday Charleston will once again serve as one of the regional locations for the 2025 tournament. Best Virginia, the WVU alumni team, will return as the featured team in the eight-team West Virginia Regional.
The 2025 West Virginia Regional will be played in the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center from July 18-23. Charleston previously hosted TBT regionals in 2021 and 2022.

“We’re excited that TBT is returning to West Virginia and to the great city of Charleston,” WVU alum John Flowers said in a statement. “I know our fans in Charleston will show up and show out like they always have since my playing days at WVU.”
Flowers serves as the general manager for Best Virginia and previously played on the team. Best Virginia’s best TBT showing came in 2022 when the former Mountaineers won the West Virginia Regional in Charleston before losing in the quarterfinals.
“Last time Best Virginia played in Charleston, our fans gave our team the energy to beat the Elmore brothers and Herd That,” Flowers said. “We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of gold and blue at the Charleston Coliseum this July. Not green.”
The West Virginia Regional was hosted in Wheeling’s WesBanco Arena in 2023. Pittsburgh hosted the closest regional in 2024 in Pitt’s Peterson Events Center.
“Charleston has been an amazing host for TBT,” TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar said in a statement. “The West Virginia fan base has always been extraordinary and now it has the opportunity to host games all the way through the championship. We can’t wait to return this summer.”

The winner of the 2025 West Virginia Regional will advance to the quarterfinals on July 28. The semifinals will be played on July 31 and the $1 million championship game is scheduled for Aug. 3.
