The Road Remaining for WVU
No.11 Oklahoma St (6-1) – September 28th
This game could easily decide the Mountaineers’ and Cowboys’ fate when it comes to the Big 12 Championship game in Dallas. Two high powered offenses led by elite quarterbacks, Will Grier and Mason Rudolph, could lead to a high scoring affair. The West Virginia defense has proven to be inconsistent throughout the season and if given the time, Rudolph could very well pick apart the Mountaineers’ secondary. The run game must return to form this weekend if the Mountaineers want to pull off the upset.
ESPN’s chance of winning via Football Power Index (FPI): Oklahoma State 72.5%
My prediction: If West Virginia can eliminate the big plays and keep its defense off the field, I believe the Mountaineers will pull off the upset. But with the defense’s recent string of inconsistency, I see the Cowboys winning a tight one at the end 30-23.
