MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Five players scored in double figures as No. 13 West Virginia defeated Iowa State 76-61 at the Coliseum Wednesday night. Emmitt Matthews Jr. had his best scoring performance since early December, scoring 12 points on 4-9 shooting. Matthews said he has been spending a lot of time in the gym trying to straighten out his shot. For much of the night Jermaine Haley was guarding Iowa State sophomore Tyrese Haliburton, who is fourth in the Big 12 in scoring. Haley said his length at 6-foot-7 gives him an advantage guarding pretty much anyone he is matched up against.
