To further promote the debut of their 1965 throwback uniform, the WVU football program posted a cinematic video across social media.

This was done, of course, because WVU will unveil their 1965 throwback uniforms against Utah, honoring the 60th anniversary of that season.

Back in May, West Virginia revealed a fresh new take on the programโ€™s helmet and uniform from the 1965 season. This announcement even makes a past comment from WVU director of athletics Wren Baker a reality.

And one year prior, WVU director of athletics Wren Baker responded to fanโ€™s post with old helmets by saying heโ€™s a โ€œmassiveโ€ fan of the 1960s ear gold helmet with WVU over a baby blue state design and that the 2025 season would mark 60 years since 1965, one of the special seasons in the programโ€™s history.

The Mountaineers won one of the programโ€™s 15 conference titles in 1965, going 4-0 in Southern Conference play. And itโ€™s important to note, West Virginia won the 1965 edition of the Backyard Brawl at old Mountaineer Field, 63-48.
