West Virginia has contacted Dalhousie University guard Malcolm Christie, he told PDT Scouting on Saturday. Christie is a native of New Brunswick.

Christie has also heard from DePaul, Towson, Delaware, South Alabama, Monmouth, Tulsa, Oral Roberts, Bryant, Illinois State and others.

It’s worth mentioning that this contact by West Virginia comes previously under Josh Eilert’s staff. It’s unknown exactly when Eilert’s staff made contact with Christie.

Christie (6-foot-5) averaged 22.1 points and 3.0 rebounds for Dalhousie in his third season. Christie shot 42% from the field, 37% from three and 90% from the free throw line. Christie attempted nearly 11 threes per game, hitting four per game. Christie was named the AUS Most Valuable Player of the Year.

It’s unknown whether or not Christie will be pursued under the next coaching staff.

West Virginia has not contacted any recruits in the transfer portal yet without a staff in place. WVU also has not lost any of their eight eligible players to the transfer portal as of Sunday morning. The transfer portal officially opened its window last Monday, allowing players to enter the database for the next 45 days until May 1.
