The Mountaineers have joined the competition for a four-star offensive lineman, even though he still has two more years left of high school.

Nashville, Tennessee native Chauncey Gooden announced his offer from West Virginia over the weekend, adding WVU to a mix that includes many other major programs. Gooden, who is viewed as one of the top offensive lineman in his class in the country, attends Lipscomb Academy in Nashville.

He list himself as 6’4″ and 315 pounds in his Twitter bio and classifies his position as offensive guard. 247 Sports ranks Gooden as the number 4 overall offensive lineman for the 2025 class. They also place him as the third best prospect from the state of Tennessee and the 78th nation wide.

Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Colorado, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M are just some of the big time schools who have sent official offers Gooden’s way. Prior to posting about his WVU offer, Gooden tweeted that USC has offered him as well.
