The days of college programs exclusively recruiting junior and senior student-athletes is no longer the case, with coaches starting the process of offering 9th graders and in some cases 8th graders.

Neal Brown and West Virginia proved that on Monday with a handful of offers to players, mostly in Pennsylvania.

Peter Jones: 2024 offensive tackle from Malvern Prep in Coatsville, Pennsylvania. Jones (6’5”, 290) also holds offers from Kentucky, Maryland and Virginia.

Anthony Speca: 2024 inside Linebacker from Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Speca is already turning into a national recruit with offers Pitt, Penn State, Notre Dame and Purdue.

David Washington Jr: 2024 wide receiver/safety from Williamstown, New Jersey. Washington also holds an offer from Temple, so this is his first Power Five offer.

Zahir Mathis: Class of 2025 (8th Grade) tight end/defensive end from Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mathis (6’6”, 230) already holds offers from Texas A&M, Michigan State, Maryland, Boston College and Penn State.
