Over the last month or so, there has been speculation from the fan base whether or not his absence from spring ball had anything to do with an injury or if he was already making his way out.
It seems that the latter is the situation here.
Many of his teammates have responded to his tweets showing their respect for him and wishing him best of luck.

He is not in the NCAA transfer portal at the moment, but it is likely that he will be in there sooner than later. Head coach Neal Brown went out and got a transfer wide receiver from Temple in Sean Ryan last month, possibly already knowing he needed another body at the position.
In his three years, Simms caught 87 passes for 1,457 yards and 8 touchdowns.
