West Virginia Shows Interest in Ohio Transfer Mark Sears

On Thursday afternoon, it was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports that Ohio transfer guard Mark Sears has received interest from West Virginia.

Rothstein reported that Alabama, Appalachian State, Auburn, Creighton, Florida, Georgetown, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Samford, South Carolina and Texas are also interested.

Sears (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) has spent his first two seasons in Athens, Ohio, recording great production for head coach Jeff Boals. This past season, Sears averaged 19.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists through 35 games for the Bobcats. Sears shot 44 percent from the field, while shooting 40 percent from three. The Muscle Shoals, AL, native was apart of the 2021 tournament team that upset No. 4 seed Virginia in the first round.

Sears will have three years of eligibility remaining. WV Sports Now will keep up to date with the latest recruiting and transfer portal newsduring the offseason.
