West Virginia Shows Off New Country Roads Uniform Combination for Backyard Brawl

Even though WVU teased their Backyard Brawl uniform combination weeks ago, the full reveal is finally here. Days before kickoff the West Virginia released a video and images to show exactly how the Mountaineers will look on the field Saturday night against Pitt.
Just like last year in Pittsburgh, WVU will wear an adaptation of their alternate “Country Roads” uniforms for the first Backyard Brawl in Morgantown in over a decade. But the 2023 version has a bit of a different feel than the white jerseys and white helmets of 2022.

The Mountaineers wore those uniforms against Pitt and Virginia Tech last season, going 1-1 in the white.
The new uniform is the same style, but with a West Virginia gold color jersey, blue pants and a blue helmet that has a couple gold stripes down the center. The “Mountaineers” across the chest replaces “West Virginia” in the same placement. The state’s country literal roads are outlined in the stripes on the numbers, helmets, sleeves and pants with a special emphasis placed on Interstate 79, which connects the two schools. The words “Cue Country Roads” surround the neck on the inside of the jersey.
WVU and Pitt will play on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Milan Puskar Stadium. The Backyard Brawl will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
