WVU Basketball Gains Commitment of Boise State Transfer F Javan Buchanan

Boise State transfer forward Javan Buchanan has committed to join the WVU basketball program, per Joe Tipton of On3 Sports. His commitment comes on the heels of his visit to West Virginia.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound veteran forward spent the past two seasons with the Broncos after transferring from the NAIA level. Buchanan averaged 12.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game during the 2025-26 season. He appeared in 37 games and was named the Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year.

With one year left of eligibility, Buchanan, an Lafayette, Ind. native,ย is viewed as a potential bench piece for a West Virginia program looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023.
