WVU Football Communications Unit Earns Second-Straight Super 11 Award
WVU football communications unit has gone back-to-back for the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Super 11 Award, receiving the honor for the second- straight season and fourth time in the past years (2020, 2022, 2024, 2025).
The Super 11 Awards, presented for the 17th time this year, are given annually to the best-performing college sports communications departments in Division I FBS football. After winning for the first time in 2020, WVU also won the award in 2022 and 2024.
WVUโs football communications team is led by assistant athletics director for football communications Mike Montoro and executive senior associate director of athletics communications Michael Fragale, who have been overseeing the publicity for WVU football since 2007.
“We are honored to have received this recognition for the second consecutive year and fourth time in the past six years (2020, 2022, 2024, 2025),” Montoro said in a statement. “Handling the communications efforts for college football is a demanding business and many people have to be part of the process and do their jobs efficiently for everything to be done the right way. Credit for this award needs to be shared with coach Rich Rodriguez, the Mountaineer coaching staff and the WVU Athletics external team.โ
