WVU Basketball learned their 2025-2026 conference opponents on Thursday, June 12th after the Big 12 released their schedule pairings in an official press release.

The Mountaineers will face UCF, Cincinnati, and Kansas State twice, both at home and on the road.

They will host Baylor, BYU, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and Utah at the WVU Coliseum. The Mountaineers will travel to face Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and TCU. Dates and times for each matchup have yet to be announced.

The 2025-26 season will mark the first for WVU Basketball under new head coach Ross Hodge. The Mountaineers missed the NCAA Tournament last season despite ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi listing them as a lock heading into the conference tournament. They last made the Big Dance in 2023 under then head coach Bob Huggins.ย

College basketball programs typically play 31 games during the regular season: the Mountaineersโ€™ conference schedule accounts for 18 of those games, leaving them with 13 out of conference matchups to boost their rรฉsumรฉ. For one of those matchups, theyโ€™ll host the hated Pittsburgh Panthers on Thursday, Nov. 13 in the 192nd occurrence of the Backyard Brawl.ย
