Transfer guard Treysen Eaglestaff is one of the most promising additions to the WVU basketball team for Ross Hodge’s debut season.

Recently, Eaglestaff confirmed his decision to cap off his college career in West Virginia after withdrawing from the NBA Draft. This was after he officially signed on to become a Mountaineer and headline Hodge’s transfer class in April.

Hodge considers Eaglestaff his top transfer recruit and believes he can help develop him into a more well rounded player.

“We are happy to have Treysen join the West Virginia basketball program,” said Hodge. “Treysen has the ability to play multiple positions, and his size and skill are a great combination for us. He possesses a passion for improvement and work ethic that will allow him to continue to improve.”

Eaglestaff transferred from North Dakota University. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound shooting guard averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists for North Dakota during the 2024-25 season. In addition to his production, he’s scored over 1,300 total points and made 221 three-pointers over his entire college career.

Known for his shooting touch, Eaglestaff holds a career three point average of average of 37.1%, and 41.6% from the field.

Choosing West Virginia wasn’t easy decision for him. During his recruitment, he turned down offers from BYU, Gonzaga, Washington, Kansas, Kentucky and others. Originally, he was signed to South Carolina back in March, but he reopened for recruitment before ultimately choosing WVU.

Hodge and the Mountaineers believe Eaglestaff has the tools to make an immediate impact. With a promising shooting average and a standout 51-point game to his credit from last season, he could play a key role in carrying WVU to a successful season.
