WVU Basketball Still Hosting 2024 Pair, Rescheduling with 2 Other Recruits

WVU Basketball is still set to host official visits for 2024 prospects Carmelo Adkins (CG) and Jinup Dobuol (F) this upcoming weekend. Adkins and Dobuol will arrive on West Virginia’s campus on Oct. 21 during the WVU-Oklahoma State football weekend, they tell WV Sports Now.

Jeremiah Green, a 2025 four-star guard, and Gob Gob, a JUCO guard, have both rescheduled their visits to West Virginia, they tell WVSN. Green and Gob were originally scheduled to join Adkins and Dobuol on the trip. Green will officially visit Oklahoma State on Oct. 28 and Gob will visit Texas State that same weekend.

Adkins (6-foot-5) is a combo guard originally from Keller, Texas. Adkins has received offers from Bryant, Holy Cross and West Virginia. Adkins reclassified from 2023 to 2024 for his postgraduate year at PHHoenix Prep OTE.

Dobuol (6-foot-8) is a three-star prospect from Saint Paul, Minn. Dobuol has picked up offers from Bethune-Cookman, Northern Arizona, Ole Miss, Portland, UCSB, West Virginia and Wichita State. Dobuol is visiting Arizona State this weekend.

WVU assistant Jordan McCabe extended offers to both Adkins and Dobuol and watched them practice in person.

“I was surprised to see coach [McCabe] at the gym because I thought he was still playing college ball. So seeing him recruiting was cool, I watched his highlights all the time as a little kid, given that he was a big-time player growing up,” Adkins said. “Him saying I’m a good player and giving me a scholarship was surreal.”

“The conversations were great he understands me, I understand him,” Dobuol said. “He’s a really cool guy in person. Back then I used to watch his highlights and I was so excited when he offered me.”
