WVU basketball made a modest climb in the KenPom rankings following a win over Georgetown on Friday.

The 73-60 victory bumped the Mountaineers up four spots, from No. 59 to No. 55.

WVU (6-2) used a 16-0 second-half run, fueled by an enthusiastic home crowd, to hand the Hoyas just their second loss of the season. Point guard Javon Small led the Mountaineers again with 26 points.

West Virginia is 10th out of the 16 Big 12 teams. Houston (No. 5), Iowa State (No. 6) and Kansas (No. 9) are all in the top 10. Cincinnati (No. 13) is just outside.

WVU’s next opponent is North Carolina Central, who will visit the WVU Coliseum Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Eagles are ranked No. 287 in KenPom. NCC is coming off a loss to Radford on Thursday but had won two in a row before that.
