WVU football continues to add to its defensive coaching staff, adding Henry Weinrich as nickels/sams coach on Saturday.

Weinrich comes to Morgantown from Oklahoma, where he served as a defensive analyst under new WVU defensive coordinator Zac Alley. He will coach nickel cornerbacks and sam linebackers with the Mountaineers.

“Henry played a key role in our success at Jacksonville State and joining us at West Virginia is a great opportunity for his young coaching career,” WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez said in a statement. “He knows our staff and our system well, and I know he will contribute heavily to our future success.”

Prior to Oklahoma, Weinrich worked with Rodriguez and Alley at Jacksonville State from 2020-23.

Weinrich joins a defensive coaching staff that so far includes Alley, bandit linebackers coach Jeff Casteel, cornerbacks coach Rod West, defensive line coach William Green and safeties coach Gabe Franklin. The defensive staff also features assistant coaches Jake CasteelAndrew Warwick, and Pat Kirkland.
