Keeping Tabs on the WVU Football Transfer Additions

With so many transfer players announcing their decision to join the WVU football program, it can be difficult to keep up with the new Mountaineers.

So because of the chaos, we decided to list West Virginia’s new additions in one place for fans to reference.

Below are the transfer players who are becoming Mountaineers.

This list is in the order of their commitment.

Edge Marshon Oxleyย 

The WVU football program added another transfer player looking to evaluate his game to their 2025 roster on Feb. 3. Marshon Oxley, a junior college edge rusher, announced his decision to become a Mountaineer with a simple โ€œcommittedโ€ hashtag and some images of his visit to West Virginia.

Oxley actually committed to WVU during an official visit over the weekend. Before that visit, WVU defensive line coach William Green took a trip to visit Oxley.

WR Jeffrey Weimerย 

Jeffrey Weimer (6-foot-2, 204 pounds), a California native, caught 75 passes for 1,016 yards and scored six touchdowns in 2024, his only season with the Idaho State Bengals. He also spent time at UNLV and City College of San Francisco, which earns him an extra year of eligibility based on the new NCAA rules about junior colleges.

WVU sent Weimer an offer on Jan. 15, just two days after he thanked Idaho State for his year there.

OL William Reed

William Reed announced his decision to commit to WVU on social media. โ€œTake Me Home!! Extremely grateful for this opportunity!! Thank you to Princeton and all the friends, family, teammates and coaches who keep me going,โ€ said Reed in his post.

Reed picked West Virginia over offers from Air Force, Arizona State, Army, Colorado, Duke, Hawaiโ€™i, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, San Diego State, Tennessee, UNLV, Utah, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington State just to name some of the schools who were interested.

LB Jimmori Robinson

WVU won the commitment of UTSA transfer linebacker Jimmori Robinson. And as an extra sweetener, West Virginia beat out rival Virginia Tech as the final two teams in the process.

Robinson announced his much anticipated decision on social media on Jan. 17.

In 2024, Robinson totaled 43 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two deflected two passes passes as he was named the American Athletic Conferenceโ€™s Defensive Player of the Year.

CB Jason Chambers

A transfer cornerback is following a new WVU coach to West Virginia. Appalachian State transfer Jason Chambers has already enrolled at WVU and is in Morgantown with cornerbacks coach Rod West.

Chambers (6-foot and 195-pounds), who entered the transfer portal on Dec. 27, spent the 2024 season working under West at Appalachian State. He appeared in 11 games and recorded 38 total tackles while deflecting a couple passes and making one interception.

Edge Keenan Eck

Junior college edge rusher Keenan Eck is hoping the WVU football staff will help him elevate his game.

Eck announced his commitment on social media. He comes from Citrus College and still has three years left of eligibility.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound pass rusher totaled 26 tackles, six sacks and forced one fumble in 2024.

QB Max Brown

Rich Rodriguez and the WVU football staff added another transfer quarterback to the mix when Charlotte transfer Max Brown announced his commitment.

Brown completed 43-of-93 pass attempts for 561 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions in five games during the 2024 season. This included missing time with an injury to his throwing hand. He entered the transfer portal on the first day the recent window opened on Dec. 1.

Brown started his college career at Florida before transferring to Charlotte. He was a redshirt in 2022 and then served as a backup the following season. In six games with Florida, he completed 19-of-28 pass attempts for 192 yards.

OL Tyโ€™Kieast Crawford

WVU football picked up a commitment from Arkansas transfer offensive lineman Tyโ€™Kieast Crawford, he announced on social media.

Crawford (6-foot-5, 324 pounds) is an offensive tackle and has played in 39 career games with nine starts. The native Texan began his career at Charlotte in 2020 where he played six games and made three starts.

Following the 2020 season, Crawford transferred to Arkansas, where he spent the next four years. He appeared in all 13 games as a sophomore in 2021 and then played in 10 games with two starts in 2022. He made four starts across nine games in 2023 before only appearing in a single contest this past season.

Crawford graduated and entered the transfer portal with one year of eligibility on Dec. 9. He took a visit to UCLA in early January and committed to the Bruins shortly after. He announced his flip to WVU.

DE Braden Siders

From Wyoming to West Virginia, defensive end Braden Siders committed to join the WVU football program on Saturday night.

Siders (6-foot-3, 252-pounds) will become a Mountaineer after four years with the Cowboys. After a redshirt year and three seasons on the field, Siders appeared in 33 games and started 26.

Siders recorded 21 tackles, five tackles for a loss and three sacks in only eight games. Sidersโ€™ best season came in 2022 when he posted 44 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss and seven sacks.

Safety William Davis

The WVU football program secured yet another transfer commit. William Davis, a safety out of Virginia Union in Division II, announced his decision on Instagram and then X (formerly Twitter) on Jan. 11.

Davis is coming off a season in which he totaled 13 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and a sack. Overall in three seasons at Virginia Union, he made 37 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

OL Robby Martin

Robby Martin is finally going to become a Mountaineer, committing to WVU on Saturday. Martin picks West Virginia about a week after entering the transfer portal and a year after deciding to start his college career elsewhere.

Martin was the top-ranked offensive line recruit in West Virginia in the 2024 signing class out of Huntington High, ultimately choosing North Carolina State over joining the Mountaineers. He did not play for the Wolfpack while redshirting the 2024 season.

Martin grew up a WVU fan and was recruited hard by then-offensive line coach Matt Moore out of high school.

โ€œThey have recruited me hard, they have also been great to me and I feel itโ€™s a good program,โ€ Martin told WVSN during his initial recruitment. He also explained he wants the school he picks to feel like home and to treat him as a member of a family.

OL Wyatt Minor

Wyatt Minor is a Clarksburg, W.Va native and a Robert C. Byrd High School product. He spent the last two years of his career at Youngstown State, including a redshirt year in 2023.

LB Chase Wilson

Rich Rodriguez is adding an accomplished transfer linebacker to his defense in Chase Wilson. The Colorado State transfer announced his commitment to WVU on Friday night.

Wilson will now be moving east after five years at CSU. He will play his final college season at West Virginia. Wilson made his decision to commit to WVU only two days after posting a message about his exit from Colorado State.

Wilson earned his second straight All-Mountain West second team selection in 2024. He totaled the second most tackles on his team with 98.

Safety Justin Harrington

Washington transfer safety Justin Harrington announced his commitment to join the WVU football program on social media on Jan. 10.

West Virginia just sent Harrington an official offer on Jan. 6.

Harrington, a 6-foot-3, 209-pound defensive back, began his college football career way back in 2018. He then spent two seasons at a junior college before transferring to Oklahoma in 2020.

RB Tye Edwards

Northern Iowa running back transfer Tye Edwards is locked in with WVU, per the A&P Sports Agency.

In 2024, Edwards (a 6-foot-4, 230-pounds) rushed for 1,012 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 while averaging 6.4 yards per carry.

Edwards also spent time at UTSA, Hutchinson Community College and Georgia Military School throughout his college career.

Edwards was named a JUCO All-American in 2021.

DL Kimo Makaneโ€™ole

A big time defensive line transfer out of the SEC is headed to Morgantown to join the WVU football program. LSU transfer Kimo Makaneโ€™ole committed to West Virginia on Friday. This comes two days after he wrapped up an official visit.

Makaneโ€™ole, who officially entered the transfer portal on Jan. 3, is looking for a bigger role than what he was offered at LSU. He made just one tackle in 10 games as a backup during the 2024 season.

DB Devonte Golden-Nelson

The WVU football staff received another boost in their efforts to retool the defensive secondary. Akron transfer cornerback Devonte Golden-Nelson committed transfer to West Virginia on Jan. 9.

Golden-Nelson, 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, spent the past three years at Akron after starting his college career with two years at Memphis.

He recorded 66 tackles, 10 pass deflections and a pair of interceptions during his career with the Zips.

DB Michael Coats Jr.

A day after his visit to West Virginia, one of the top transfer defensive backs on the market is committing to the WVU football program. And on the day of his scheduled trip to Ole Miss, Michael Coats Jr. decided to lock on with the Mountaineers.

Coats, who spent three years at a community college after not playing football in high school, is able to continue his college career due to a new NCAA rule. He then transferred to Nevada, recording 13 total tackles and a pick in 10 games in 2023 and 42 tackles and four interceptions in 2024.

Coats was named a first-team All-Mountain West player for his play from this past season.

DB Derek Carter

Another former Jacksonville State player is heading to Morgantown, as former Gamecock cornerback Derek Carter announced his internet to transfer to WVU on Wednesday.

Carter, a redshirt senior, played in 35 games at Jacksonville State, nabbing on interceptions. He was named second-team All-CUSA following the 2023 season when he defended eight passes and made 44 tackles.

Carter (5-11, 185) racked up 89 total tackles across three seasons with the Gamecocks with four tackles for loss. He has 10 total pass defenses with one interception.

DB Fred Perry

Fred Perry (5-foot-11, 200-pounds) spent the last three seasons with the Gamecocks, totaling 257 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 10 passes deflections, six forced fumbles, three sacks and a pair of interceptions in 36 games played.

He recorded 97 of those ย tackles, nine tackles for a loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups during a monster 2024 season that saw him earn first team All-Conference honors.

DB Jordan Walker

The WVU football program bolsters its secondary with a transfer commitment on Wednesday. University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defensive back transfer Jordan Walker revealed his commitment to the Mountaineers on social media.

Walker picked WVU over interest from Appalachian State, Ball State, Buffalo, UAB, UConn, UTEP, Western Michigan and others.

Walker totaled 60 tackles, seven pass breakups, 2.5 tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery in 2024. He has four interceptions in his college career.

TE Johnny Pascuzzi

An experienced tight end is headed to Morgantown. Iowa transfer tight end Johnny Pascuzzi committed to join Rich Rodriguez and the WVU football program on Monday.

After starting his college career as a walk-on, Pascuzzi appeared in 22 games in four years for Iowa as mostly as blocking tight end and on special teams. He made a couple receptions for 41 yards, 40 of which came on one play. He entered the transfer portal on Dec. 3.

K Ethan Head

WVU football has brought in Tulane kicker Ethan Head through the transfer portal.

Head, a sophomore, was a part-time kicker for Green Wave in 2024. He finished 4-5 on field goals with a long of 38 with all five attempts coming in a three-game stretch from September into October. His miss was from 39 yards.

Head was 18-21 on extra points across five games throughout the season. On kickoffs, Head recorded 50 touchbacks on 77 attempts. He had two kicks go out of bounds.

WR Cam Vaughn

Top Jacksonville State receiver Cam Vaughn will follow his coach to West Virginia, according to the A&P Sports Agency on Jan. 6.

Vaughn (6-2, 190) led the Gamecocks in all receiving categories in 2024, posting 48 catches for 803 yards and five touchdowns. He follows head coach Rich Rodriguez to Morgantown.

LB Ashton Woods

North Carolina transfer linebacker Ashton Woods announced his intentions on social media to provide the Mountaineers with their biggest addition of the day.

Woods, a Marietta, Ga. product, was a four-star recruit out of high school in 2024.

He ended up picking UNC over offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Georgia Tech Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, NC State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Pitt, Tennessee, UCF, USC, Virginia, Wake Forest and many others.

RB LJ Turner

WVU Football gainedย junior college transfer running back LJ Turner.

In 2024 at Catawba Community College in Salisbury, North Carolina, Turner rushed for 1,224 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on 174 carries.

WR Cyrus Traugh

A West Virginia native is coming home to become a Mountaineer. Youngstown State transfer wide receiver Cyrus Traugh committed to join the WVU football program on Jan. 5.

Traugh, a Parkersburg South product who caught 84 passes for 1,200 yards and 19 touchdowns as a Randy Moss Award winner during his illustrious high school career in the state, comes to WVU with two more years of eligibility.

After seeing limited time as a freshman at Youngstown State, he became as a top target for Penguins in 2024. Traugh made 36 receptions for 509 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns.

QB Jaylen Henderson

A former Texas A&M quarterback is taking his talents to West Virginia and committing to the WVU football program.

Jaylen Henderson announced his commitment to West Virginia on Jan. 5.

Henderson, who entered the transfer portal on Dec. 2, appeared in five games in 2023. He completed 53-of-78 passes for 715 yards with 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also added 104 yards and 2 scores on the ground.

TE Jacob Barrickย 

Tight end Jacob Barrick will join Rich Rodriguez at WVU.

Barrick, a Martinsburg, W.Va. native will jump to the Power Four level in the Big 12 for his final year of eligibility.

WR Jarod Bowie

In an effort to retool the WVU football roster, Rich Rodriguez brings one of his Jacksonville State players home. Wide receiver Jarod Bowie announced his commitment to West Virginia on Monday.

Bowie, a Martinsburg, W.Va. native, comes to WVU after spending two years at Jacksonville State and was part of the Gamecockโ€™s Conference USA championship team. He made 13 receptions for 209 yards in 14 games in 2024.

OL Walter Young Bear

On Monday, Walter Young Bear announced his commitment to become a Mountaineer on social media. Bear comes to West Virginia after spending four years, including one as a redshirt, at Tulsa.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 312 pounds, Bear hails from Norman, Okla.

Bearโ€™s commitment comes after he received a recent offer from WVU rival Pitt. In addition to West Virginia and Pitt, Bear had offers from Cal, Stanford, UCF, Virginia and WKU.

WR Oran Singleton

Eastern Michigan transfer wide receiver Oran Singleton Jr. announced his commitment to West Virginia on Dec. 22.

Singleton caught a team-high 64 passes for 639 yards and two touchdowns during the 2024 season.

CB Jordan Scruggsย 

Transfer cornerback Jordan Scruggs committed to WVU after his official visit over the weekend.

Scruggs, who entered the transfer portal on the first day it open on Dec. 1, recorded had 69 tackles, four tackles for a loss, a pair of pass breakups and an interception in 11 games during the 2024 season. He transferred to South Alabama after spending the 2023 season at Central Missouri, where he registered 37 total tackles.
