Defensive Lineman Elijah Simmons becomes West Virginia’s second departure on New Year’s Eve. Simmons will exit the WVU football program and enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on Jan. 2, per On3 Sports.

Elijah Simmons, who appeared in just two games in 2025, transferred to WVU after spending the first three years of his college career between Kent State and Garden City Community College.

The six-foot tall, 288 pound lineman recorded just 21 tackles against junior college competition in 2024.

WVU WOULD DO BEST BY LEAVING THE BIG 12 AND GOING INTO THE MAC,,, WE WOULD HAVE A MUCH BETTER CHANCE OF A WINNNG RECORD AND GOING TO A BOWL, IN FACT , I THINK WE’D HAVE A BETTER CHANCE TO GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS ,CERTAINLY AS LONG AS WE’RE INTHE BIG 12 WE WILL NEVER WIN THE BIG12 AND NEVER MAKE ITTO THE PLAYOFFS… JUST TOO MANY BIG MONEY SCHOOLS IN THE BI 12, LOOK AT TTU,,, BYU HAD MANY BUCKS TO SPEND,, IOWA STATE IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN US , WE CAN’T BEAT KANSAS STATE, CFU, TCU, BAYLOR, KANSAS, CINN. JUST TO NAME A FEW WITHIN THE CONF,,, IT’S STAGGERING,, REGRETFULLY WE DON’T HAVE BIG TIME MONEY,,,, AND THAT’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT, AND WE NEED MUCH BETTER COACHING,, RROD IS JUST HERE CAUSE HE COULDN’T GET ANOTHER POWER 4 JOB,,, THE MONEY IS OK, AND HE’LL JUST SLIP INTO RETIREMENT RIGHT BEFORE OUR VERY EYES,,, SAD ISN’T IT.
