To no surprise, the Mountaineers are a massive favorite heading into their season opener against Robert Morris. WVU sits as a 38.5-point home favorite over the Colonials, according to FanDuel.

It took several days for a legitimate company to even offer a spread for the game due to it being expected to be a very lopsided matchup between a Power Four school and an FCS program.

Despite being able to assume the win, Rich Rodriguez‘s first game back coaching West Virginia in a regular season game since 2007 adds extra intrigue to the day.

Earlier in the week, Rodriguez released his first official 2025 WVU football depth chart.

While few questions were answered, Rodriguez did reveal his starters for one very important position.

First WVU Football Depth Chart Shows Starters at Important Positions

Landen Livingston, Nickย Krahe, Kimo Makaneโ€™ole, Tyโ€™Kieast Crawford and Walter Young Bear appear to be West Virginiaโ€™s starting offensive line.

On the other side of the ball, Eddie Kelly Jr., Eddie Vesterinen and Hammond Russell IV will be the top defensive linemen.

But beyond solidifying the trenches, the key positions are still left as an unknown. Unwilling to publicize his starting quarterback, wide receivers and other key spots on the roster, Rodriguez has those positions listed with an โ€œorโ€ separating each player.

During the first โ€œRich Rodriguez Showโ€ of the season, Rodriguez teased possibly employing a two-quarterback system.

โ€œWe will definitely play multiple quarterbacks on Saturday, and that will probably be the case every week. Iโ€™m not opposed to playing multiple guys,โ€ explained Rodriguez when asked if whoever doesnโ€™t start will see the field.

Rodriguez has yet to name his starting quarterback, granted most expect Nicco Marchiol to be under center when West Virginia kicks off the 2025 season against Robert Morris on Saturday.

Opening with an FCS opponent should allow time to play backups, but Rodriguezโ€™s comments make it seem like heโ€™s planning to use multiple quarterbacks throughout the entire season.

West Virginia will open the 2025 season on Saturday with kickoff from Milan Puskar Stadium set for 2 pm ET.
