WVU Football legacy recruit Travis Johnson

West Virginia sent an offer to a legacy athlete after seeing him impress during WVU football camp.

Travis Johnson tweeted about the Mountaineers being his sixth offer on Monday evening. Johnson, listed at 6-foot-3 and 170 pounds, is only a class of 2026 prospect at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Johnson is the younger brother of class of 2023 recruit and WVU freshman Tory Johnson Jr. Their father is also a former Mountaineer.

Travis visited West Virginia during spring ball in April. He’s mostly viewed as a wide receiver position wise.

WVSN spoke to Johnson about getting an offer from the school where his dad played and his brother attends. “Told me They love my talent!!! Knowing that my brother and parents went here it feels great,” he said.

East Carolina and Charlotte are his other most recent offers. Duke, Marshall and Virginia Tech are Johnson’s other offers so far.
