The WVU football staff is hoping they have an extra reason to celebrate America’s independence on the Fourth of July. One of their remaining 2025 targets is set to announce his commitment decision on Thursday.

Samari Reed, a wide recover out of Monarch High School in Coconut Creek, Fla., is expected to pick between his long list of offers. In addition to West Virginia, Reed has offers on the table from major conference programs like Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Penn State and many others. Oklahoma even extended an offer to Reed in early May.

Reed is a consensus three-star prospect and rated inside the 100 players in Florida by every national recruiting outlet. Rivals even has Reed as high as their No. 22 Florida player.

On3 Sports projects Penn State as the front runner for Reed with Ole Miss and WVU also as strong contenders. The Mountaineers have been in on Reed for over a year, initially sending him an offer in April of 2023.

To this point, West Virginia already has commitments from four wide receivers. Most recently Jalil Hall became the fourth receiver in WVU’s 2025 recruiting class, joining Teriq Mallory, Montavin Quisenberry and Tyshawn Dues.

Reed has not been active on social media in recent weeks, but his last post on X revealed an official visit to Kentucky.
