Mountaineers in the Pros
WVU Product Seahawks QB Geno Smith Leads NFL in Multiple Passer Categories
Geno Smith’s renaissance type 2022 season has been well documented, but as the NFL heads into Week 6, it’s important to realize just how great of a year the Mountaineer legend has been having.
Through 5 games of this NFL season, Smith currently leads the league in both passer rating and completion percentage.

He hasn’t just been excelling compared to his current NFL quarterback peers either. Smith’s then 77.3 completion percentage was the highest any quarterback has posted through the first 4 games of a season in history with a minimum of 125 attempts.
The recently inducted WVU Sports Hall of Famer also surpassed 300 yards passing in back-to-back 300 games for the first time in his pro career.

Smith’s Seahawks, who despite the strong play from their quarterback have a 2-3 record, host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 pm EST and the game should be televised on FOX for those out of market West Virginia fans interested in tuning in.
Smith remains as one of the most prolific players in school history as the all-time passing yards and passing touchdowns leader with 11,662 yards and 98 touchdowns. He played from 2009-12 before being a second round selection by the New York Jets.
