Despite previously hinting at returning to WVU, Jahiem White has decided to enter the transfer portal instead. West Virginia’s star running back, who entered the 2025 season on national watch lists before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 2, will test the open market this offseason.

WV Sports Now was able to confirm the national reports about White entering the portal on Monday afternoon.

White has been recovering from surgery since September. โ€œThank you to Dr. ElAttrache and the staff at Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center. Out of surgery. It went great. On the road to recovery, Thank you for all the continued prayers and support,โ€ said White at the time.

He went down late in the first half of WVUโ€™s loss to Ohio after the combination of a horse caller and face mask sent him to the ground. He was eventually helped off the field and then carted to the locker room.

At the time of his exit, White had ran for 40 yards on six carries with a touchdown. His 2025 season ends after just 24 carries and 133 yards. He scored two touchdowns in the season opening win over Robert Morris.
